5/2007
This was the beginning.
That lot behind the mural was where I met my sweet bitch (now my wife) and where my pups were born. Then I heard on the streets that "Heavy Metal"*, this ugly new luxury condo building, was coming to wipe out their birthplace. I had to do something......I couldn't just let a greedy developer wipe out my puppies' history! And, they don't call me "Art Dog" for nothing! So I made some human friends over by the subway plaza and relayed my concerns. Next thing I know this art work went up. I took a picture with my camera..... I can only reach up a couple of feet even when I stand tippie toe on my hind paws! But I think I caught it pretty well........The humans sure were happy. I told them I would post it on a blog one day. So here I am! I always make good on my promises.

Here's the pic of "Heavy Metal". The blog: Gowanus Lounge said, "Smith Street Could Get Very, Very Shiny". Dog, he wasn't kidding!

Smith Street Rendering

This first appeared in Gowanus Lounge: "When we got an email the other day from someone trying to rally opposition to a new development on Smith Street and 2nd Place we immediately realized they were talking about a building whose rendering has been posted for a long time. The plans have been filed and were just disapproved, but that could only be a temporary setback. The building, which is designed by Scarano Architects would be eight stories tall and have 46 apartments. Our emailer writes that "the plaza in front of the Carroll Station will disappear and no garden is planned in front. The street’s aesthetics will be slightly modified by a metallic-gray façade." He adds that residents are working to have "this project changed to something taking care of the Carroll Gardens style." Stay tuned."

If he meant me, I was already tuned in. I can sniff a monstrosity at least nine blocks away with my eyes closed. That's the first thing my Mom taught me to do when I was still a pup! Next thing you know some other humans made this flyer:

GL (Gowanus Lounge) called it

"
Heavy Metal Backlash in Carroll Gardens"
I liked that a lot. I read the story to my wife and pups that night at bedtime.

BTW: Anyone know anything about that lost and injured little cutie some human found on Sixth? Let the Found in Brooklyn blog know if you do! And while you are over there check out that Art/Live Show event she's creating in the AY Pawprint! I don't like bragging but she's even featuring a couple of my photos. Not bad for a human...huh? Like, I always remind my pups: "Not all humans are 'challenged', you know!"

Here you see the love of my life, my darling wife! She wore this to our New Year's Eve gala this year. Bow WOW!
